Testing Avast Mobile Security

Avast products are very useful. One of the popular products is Avast Antivirus for PC. Avast also has an antivirus for Android. In this opportunity, I would like to share my Avast Mobile test results.

My phone is in Malay language so I would type glossary below the screenshots.

1. I downloaded an app to test the ability of antivirus. This app was harmless. It contains EICAR file. The app name is “Prueba tu Antivirus” or in English, it means “Test Your Antivirus”.

                                                       *Pasang=Install

 2. A few seconds after the installation ended, Avast appeared in notification area saying that “Isu Dikesan (there’s an issue). I opened Avast app.

3. It categorised Test Your Antivirus as a malware that can ruin my phone. Let ignore it for a while.
4. I opened Test Your Antivirus. Look, there’s a “Start Test” button. Just click it.

5. This app would generate random file after clicking “Start Test” button. If an antivirus detect them as threats, so the antivirus is working correctly. I clicked “Start Test”.

6. Within five seconds, the pop-ups from Avast appeared on my phone screen. Avast recognised the files as malware. That’s good.

To continue testing, I clicked on “Abaikan (Ignore)”.

7. I clicked on the “Start Test” again to generate new files. Again, Avast recognised them as threats. I clicked on “Abaikan (Ignore)”.

8. I wanted to try Avast ability to detect malware apk. So I used Sandaran (Backup) app to copy Test Your Antivirus into APK files. I chose Test Your Antivirus and Buat Sandaran Ke Kad SD (Make Backup To SD Card).

9. Avast did not disappoint me when it quickly generated a pop-up saying that “Perisian Berniat Jahat Dikesan (Malware Detected)”.

10. I clicked “Abaikan (Ignore)”. Then, I opened Avast app.

I clicked on “Tunjukkan Isu (Show issues)”.

11. Avast would show all threats. We can choose to solve it once by once or altogether.

*Selesai=solve   *Laporkan sebagai positif palsu=report as false positive   *Abaikan= Ignore

12. I chose to “Solve All”.

*Selesaikan semua=Solve all

13. Then, I turned off Installation from Unknown Source.

*Pemasangan daripada sumber tidak diketahui=Installation from unknown source

14. Then, I went to Ignored Threats.

*Ancaman diabaikan=Ignored Threats
This time, I needed to solve it once by once.

My Conclusion

Avast real time malware detection is good. When malware gets into your phone, Avast quicky told you about it. The app I used in my test is harmless and cannot ruin my phone. However, I restarted my phone after the test.

Avast is a good antivirus to install. It has two versions; free and Pro. Free version is pretty good. To the readers who read this post, I’m sorry if my telling is not good. I’ll improve it.

Note: To the readers who want to test their antivirus whether the app’s working correctly or not, DO NOT download a true virus but download the test app to avoid the damage to your phone.
